Congratulations to Middle School Student Musicians Who Performed at LISFA
Congratulations to the Glen Cove Finley Middle School musicians who were chosen to participate in the Long Island String Festival Association (LISFA) at Uniondale High School on March 5, 2023.
Nicole Lee (8th grade) and Sarah Lee (6th grade) performed this past weekend at the Long Island String Festival Association (LISFA) under the direction of their orchestra teacher, Christopher Lippe. LISFA provides the opportunity for outstanding string players from each school district in Nassau and Suffolk County to come together to perform challenging orchestral repertoire over the course of a few days and to come together to perform in a concert under the direction of distinguished conductors and educators. The student musicians are selected to participate based on their NYSSMA scores from the previous year. Nicole performed on cello with the Long Island String Festival’s 7th and 8th Grade Orchestra, and Sarah performed on violin with the 6th Grade Orchestra. They participated in rehearsals on Friday, March 3rd and Saturday, March 4th, and then performed a concert on Sunday, March 5th. Performing at the LISFA Festival is an honor and privilege.
The success of LISFA lies in the strength of the string teachers on Long Island, their talented students, the parents who support their musical development and the quality of the conductors who together celebrate the power of music.
Congratulations to Nicole and Sarah on their outstanding accomplishments. All of us at Glen Cove Schools are proud of you!
