Superintendent's Conference Day 2023-24

Glen Cove City School District's faculty and staff attended Superintendent's Conference Day to prepare for the 2023-24 school year. The event featured speakers including Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maria L. Rianna, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology, Alexa Doeschner, and our newly appointed Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, Andrew DiNapoli.

During the Conference, Dr. Maria L. Rianna addressed the faculty and staff, providing valuable updates on the ongoing construction projects at our school buildings. She encouraged everyone to stay informed by regularly visiting the district website, where they can find the latest information and progress reports.

Dr. Rianna took a moment to express her gratitude towards the Board of Education members for their unwavering support in securing the bond and facilitating the completion of these crucial projects. Their dedication and efforts have played a pivotal role in enhancing our school facilities and creating an improved learning environment for our students.

Recognizing the challenges that come with construction, Dr. Rianna extended her heartfelt appreciation to the staff for their patience and understanding during this transitional phase. She acknowledged that inconveniences may arise as we strive to improve our facilities, but emphasized the long-term benefits that these renovations will bring to our entire school community.

Ms. Doeschner discussed the objective for the current school year which is an instructional focus on active student engagement. The district recognized and celebrated its outstanding employees. We proudly acknowledged our 25 new teachers who are joining our Glen Cove family. We also honored our long term staff members who have dedicated 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service to the Glen Cove City School District. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of these exceptional individuals for their remarkable contributions and commitment to education.

Throughout the rest of the day, faculty members actively engaged in a range of workshops, planning sessions, and training activities. These opportunities allowed them to enhance their skills, exchange ideas, and collaborate on strategies that will benefit our students. With their newfound knowledge and enthusiasm, our educators are eagerly looking forward to welcoming students on Tuesday, September 5th.
