Landing School Holds Their Annual Spelling Bee

On February 3, Landing School held its annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. The event kicked off in the fifth-grade classrooms with preliminary rounds, where twelve finalists were selected to compete in the schoolwide championship.
After several competitive rounds, Gabriel Grella. claimed first place by correctly spelling the winning word, “pizzeria.” Gabriel will move on to an online assessment this March to qualify for the Long Island Regional Spelling Bee. Congratulations also go to runner-up Jacob Palazzo and the other talented finalists: Luca Martin, Alessandra Papasidero, Chloe Espinoza, John Mountrakis, Alessia Gizzo, Laura Molnar, Carmelo Colon, Nicholas Afonso, Ryan Polanco, Jacob Palazzo and Oliver Ignacio Ventura.
The event was organized by Ms. Harechmak and Mrs. Donnelly. The judging panel included Mrs. Altamirano and Mrs. Pawlowski, with Ms. Rebecca Carfora serving as the official pronouncer and moderator. The school also thanks Principal Liza Carfora, Dr. Alexa Doeschner, Mr. Bryce Klatsky, and Ms. Ashley Ghiraldi for attending and supporting the students.
