Landing Elementary School Recognized in The Book Fairies’ Newsletter for Establishing Free Book Baskets in the Community
Landing Elementary School has recently been recognized in The Book Fairies’ August Newsletter. This newsletter highlights how Landing Elementary School, as part of their partnership with The Book Fairies, has recently established Free Book Baskets within the community. Baskets of books were placed at a local deli and laundromat to provide free access to books to students within our community and to help foster a love of reading.
Landing Elementary School established their partnership with The Book Fairies, a non-profit organization focused on sourcing and redistributing books to communities and families in need across Long Island, in 2023. Specifically, this partnership focused on building students’ home libraries program, with the goal of providing Landing students with ten free or gently used books to take home each year. To date, 4,388 books have been distributed to Landing students through this partnership with The Book Fairies.
We would like to thank The Book Fairies for making this partnership possible. We would also like to thank our district ELA Coordinator, Kristen Schaefer, and our Landing School Book Fairies Committee, Farrah Vaughan, Rebecca Carfora, Danielle Fasano, Denise Reynolds, Laura-Ann Hazen, Amy Mendrinos, Denise Pawlowski, Caitlyn Gordon, Anne Shannon, Rebecca SanGiovanni and Alicia Tirado, for all of their hard work.
