Landing School Celebrates Fifth Grade Moving-Up Ceremony

On Wednesday, June 25, Landing School held its 5th Grade Moving-Up Ceremony at Glen Cove High School. It was a proud and bittersweet event, as it marked Principal Burnett’s final Moving Up Ceremony at Landing. She reflected on her special connection with this class, recalling how they were third graders when she first became principal. She spoke about the many milestones and special events they shared throughout the years, expressing her pride in their growth and her confidence in their bright futures. “I know you are ready to take on middle school and beyond with confidence , curiosity, and determination. You will always have a special place in my heart,” she said.

Superintendent Dr. Maria Rianna also addressed the students, offering her congratulations and encouraging them to embrace the challenges ahead with kindness and gratitude. She reminded them to appreciate the support of their families and teachers. This ceremony was especially meaningful as it was also Dr. Rianna’s final Moving Up Ceremony before her retirement. Her leadership and dedication to the district will be deeply missed.

Students were honored with awards for best attendance, special achievements, and were presented with their diplomas. The celebration concluded with a beautiful choral performance directed by Miss Courtney Sack.
