Honoring Our Heroes | Veterans Day

Chris Haff Veterans Day

Ahead of Veterans Day, Deasy and Gribbin students found meaningful ways to honor and thank those who have served our country.

At Deasy School, kindergarteners welcomed Veteran Christopher Haff, who served as a Machinist Mate in the U.S. Navy from 1992–1996, traveling the world aboard three different ships. He shared stories from his time in the Navy and brought his uniform and a few hats for students to explore. The children were captivated learning about life aboard a ship—the meals, daily routines, and how different life was without the technology we have today. Students also posed in front of the Veterans Honor Wall, honoring the service and sacrifices of our nation’s heroes.

At Gribbin School, first graders created beautiful cards and letters for local Veterans, which will be shared with Glen Cove community members on Veterans Day. Their thoughtful messages of appreciation remind us that kindness and gratitude make a lasting impact. 🇺🇸
