High School Students Represent Glen Cove at Statewide PRHYLI Leadership Institute in Albany

Our very own Yossiri Espinoza and Diana Rodriguez recently represented Glen Cove at the 36th Annual Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PR/HYLI). Held from April 18–20, 2026, in Albany, our students joined the 45-member Long Island Delegation to engage directly with high-level civic processes. This year’s theme, "Democracy in the Age of AI," challenged participants to think critically about the intersection of technology and governance through a series of immersive experiences. These included Legislative Workshops for intensive training in policy development, a high-stakes Mock Assembly held on the floor of the NYS Assembly Chamber to debate active bills, and a concluding Recognition Gala dedicated to celebrating student achievements and scholarship winners from across New York State.
