Glen Cove Schools Honor 9/11
On September 11, Glen Cove City Schools paid tribute to the lives lost in the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Students and staff across all grade levels demonstrated their patriotic spirit by wearing red, white, and blue. Schools engaged in a variety of age-appropriate activities, lessons, and ceremonies to emphasize the enduring values of unity, bravery, and compassion.
Elementary students learned about patriotic symbols and created remembrance chains that were displayed in their classrooms. Middle and high school students participated by signing a banner, pledging to never forget the crucial lessons commemorated on 9/11.
This project is part of a broader initiative to encourage reflection and civic engagement regarding this pivotal event in our nation's history. The Rho Kappa Honor Society students lined the entrances of our elementary schools with flags, adding to the day’s significance.
“We remain dedicated to ensuring that future generations understand the significance of 9/11 and the resilience that emerged in its aftermath,” said Susan Poulos, Coordinator of Social Studies.
