Glen Cove High School is proud to announce that students Paige Jimenez and Aiden Van Ommeren have advanced to the "Nominee Selection Phase" of the 2026 Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance.
Following their acclaimed performances in the high school’s production of Legally Blonde The Musical, Aiden and Paige were selected by a team of professional adjudicators to move forward in this prestigious regional competition.
The Roger Rees Awards serve as the Greater New York City regional gateway to The Jimmy Awards® (The National High School Musical Theatre Awards®). Aiden and Paige will represent Glen Cove in the following stages: On May 2, both students will participate in professional auditions and educational workshops at LIU Post. From these auditions, 50 official "Nominees" will be selected to move on to the Roger Rees Awards Weekend in New York City from May 15–17. The weekend culminates in a public showcase at Symphony Space on May 17, where finalists will perform for distinguished judges. Two winners will ultimately be chosen to represent the region on a national stage in the Jimmy Awards.
Watching Paige and Aiden bring these characters to life on our stage was a highlight of the season," said Theater Teacher Jared Ross. "Their advancement to the Roger Rees auditions is a well-deserved recognition of their talent, work ethic, and passion for storytelling."
Choral Director Edward Norris III added, "Beyond their natural stage presence, both students have shown incredible vocal growth and dedication. We are thrilled to see them represent Glen Cove among the finest young performers in the New York area."
The Roger Rees Awards Showcase is open to the public, and the Glen Cove community is encouraged to attend and cheer on our talented performers. The District congratulates Aiden and Paige on this "Next Step" toward excellence!
