The Glen Cove High School National English Honor Society (NEHS) is proud to announce the launch of The Book Nook, a Little Free Library located at Morgan Memorial Park. The Book Nook is more than just a Free Little Library—it's a community project created with love and passion by the National English Honor Society (NEHS) of Glen Cove High School. Our mission is simple: to spread the joy of reading and foster a lifelong love for books throughout the Glen Cove community. In 2024, the members of the NEHS came together to brainstorm ways to give back to the community they love. With a shared passion for literature and a deep belief in the power of stories, they envisioned a place where people of all ages could find a book they love, share their favorites, and connect over the magic of reading. Thus, The Book Nook was born—a free, public library designed to inspire curiosity, spark imagination, and encourage a love for literature!
A big thank you goes to the talented AP Art students for their creative and beautiful work in painting the library, turning it into a vibrant, artistic centerpiece that enhances the space and invites the community to engage with the spirit of storytelling.
The Book Nook is now open for the community to enjoy! The Glen Cove High School National English Honor Society invites everyone to stop by, take a book, donate a book, and be part of this growing literary movement. Special thanks to NEHS advisors Michele Lindner and Valerie Stazzone, District ELA Coordinator Kristen Schaefer, Superintendent Dr. Maria Rianna, Assistant Superintendents Dr. Alexa Doeschner and Andrew DiNapoli, Mayor Panzenbeck, Deputy Mayor McNaughton, Councilwoman Silverman, Spiro Tsirkas, and the Honor Society students for their attendance and support.
