Thank you to GCTV for creating this coverage of the Pep Rally - watch here.

Today's Welcome Home Pep Rally at Glen Cove High School was an unforgettable celebration! We were thrilled to honor Shye Roberts, a contestant on NBC’s The Voice, as she advanced to the next stage of the competition after impressing her coach, Michael Bublé, and winning the recent Knockout Round.

The event was filled with energy and community spirit, featuring sincere speeches from Choral Director Edward Norris, Fine and Performing Arts Director Lawrence Nadel, and Principal Allen Hudson. The auditorium was decorated with vibrant signs showing support, and our Pep Band, directed by Brittney Frank Rifkind, brought the crowd to life with live music. A dynamic slideshow created by GCTV students, along with teacher Valerie Lasser, showcased Shye's journey, while visual art students and art teacher Maria Verni displayed their incredible talent with a special artistic gift presented to Shye.

We were proud to have many community members in attendance, including Board Members Maria Elena Venuto, Angela Raimo, and Lynn James; Superintendent Dr. Maria Rianna; Mayor Panzenbeck; Deputy Mayor McNaughton; Councilwoman Marsha Silverman; Councilwoman Danielle Fugazy Scagliola, Shye’s family; and Glen Cove High School students. A special thank you to GCTV for filming the event and capturing these unforgettable moments.

The highlight of the day was Shye’s stunning performance, where she shared her musical talent and captivated the audience. At the end of the event, Shye graciously answered many questions from the crowd, further connecting with her supporters and fans.

This event was a true celebration of the incredible talent and creativity nurtured within Glen Cove Schools, and it was a wonderful opportunity for our community to rally behind one of our own as she continues her journey on The Voice. Thank you to everyone for your continued support of the arts in our community—today was a shining example of all that makes Glen Cove special!
