Glen Cove High School Celebrates Black History Month with “And Still I Rise"
Glen Cove High School hosted a powerful Black History Month celebration on February 13 in the auditorium, honoring the rich heritage, achievements, and contributions of the Black community. The event aimed to inspire students and community members to embrace diversity and recognize the profound impact of Black history on our shared future.
This year’s program, led by Ms. Hall’s African Diaspora class, centered around the theme “And Still I Rise.” Inspired by Maya Angelou’s words, the theme highlighted the strength, triumphs, and perseverance of the Black community throughout history. The event featured a presentation by the Rho Kappa Honor Society, wonderful performances of Lift Every Voice and Sing and We Shall Overcome by the Select Chorale, and a keynote address by guest speaker Eyerusalem Tewoldeberhan.
A special thank you to District Coordinator for Social Studies Susan Poulos for organizing this meaningful event, Edward Norris for directing the chorus, and our guest speakers for their inspiring contributions.
