Glen Cove City School District Welcomes New Social Studies Chairperson, Ms. Tayla Plotke

 

The Glen Cove City School District is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Tayla Plotke as our new Social Studies Chairperson.

Ms. Plotke joins Glen Cove from the Baldwin Union Free School District, where she served as a Social Studies Teacher, News Literacy Lead Teacher, and Attendance Coordinator at the High School. . During her tenure, she partnered with Stony Brook University to develop a districtwide News Literacy curriculum, helped design the Seal of Civic Readiness Capstone, and led professional development in civic engagement, instructional technology, and AI integration.

Ms. Plotke holds certifications in School Building Leadership, School District Leadership, and a New York State Social Studies 7–12 Professional Teaching Certification with a 5–6 Extension. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education in Administration and Supervision at St. John’s University. Ms. Plotke also earned a Post-Master’s Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University, a Master of Science in Educational Technology from LIU Post, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Education from Arcadia University.

Throughout her time in Baldwin, Ms. Plotke demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing civic readiness, media literacy, and student engagement. Her extensive experience as a teacher, instructional leader, and administrator has prepared her to guide Glen Cove’s Social Studies program toward new levels of excellence—fostering inquiry, civic engagement, and global awareness among all students.
