Glen Cove High School Student Artists Find Inspiration at The Met

GCHS Artists Visit The Met

On Friday, April 24, Glen Cove High School art teachers Maria Verni and LeeAnn Palazzo took AP Art and National Art Honor Society students to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. The trip allowed students to move beyond the classroom and study legendary masterpieces in person to inspire their own portfolios.

The group explored a wide range of styles, from the classic precision of Leonardo da Vinci to the bold, textured brushwork of Vincent van Gogh. They also studied the graceful movement in Edgar Degas' work and the unique Pointillist technique of Georges Seurat, where small dots of color create a larger image.

By seeing these famous works up close, the students gained a better understanding of scale and technique. They returned to school with fresh inspiration and new ideas to apply to their own creative projects.
