Farrah Feygis Appointed Principal of Connolly Elementary School

The Glen Cove City School District is proud to announce that Farrah Feygis has joined the district as the new principal of Connolly Elementary School.

Ms. Feygis brings over a decade of classroom teaching experience in New York City elementary schools as well as experience as an educational consultant to her new leadership role. This extensive, hands-on background serves as the foundation for her collaborative and student-centered approach to school leadership.

"What impressed me most about Ms. Feygis was how quickly she began showing up," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Alexa Doeschner. "She did not wait for July. She came to end of year events, met families, and started learning who our students are. That tells you something about how she leads. Our community deserves a principal who is present and who puts children first, and that is exactly what we have found."

"I am coming to Connolly with deep respect for the work that has already been done here, and with genuine excitement about what we will build together," said Ms. Feygis. "My promise to you is simple. I will be visible, accessible, and transparent. I will lead with empathy and hold us all, myself included, to high expectations. And every decision I make will come back to one question. What is best for our children?"

To ensure a seamless transition for the upcoming school year, Ms. Feygis has already begun her outreach early by attending end-of-year events in May and June, where she had the opportunity to meet face-to-face with Connolly families, staff, and students.

Building strong, authentic relationships is Ms. Feygis's top priority. For families, she plans to host regular "Coffee with the Principal" sessions and maintain an open door policy. For staff, she is hosting voluntary summer conversations and individual check-ins at the start of the school year to learn what makes Connolly special and how she can best support them. For students, she promises to be a constant, encouraging presence in the hallways, classrooms, and lunch tables.

Ms. Feygis earned a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and Psychology from Hofstra University Honors College, a Master of Arts from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from SUNY Oswego.
