We are proud to announce that Edward P. Norris III, Director of Choral Music at Glen Cove High School, has been named the 2025 Educator of Note by the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF).

This prestigious honor, awarded to only one educator each year, recognizes those who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to music education and have made a lasting impact on the lives of their students. Mr. Norris is the 19th teacher to receive this award since its inception in 2007.

Edward P. Norris III is currently the Director of Choral Music at Glen Cove High School, Conductor of the Nassau Chamber Chorale at the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, and Director of Choirs at Long Island University. With an impressive career that spans 23 years, Norris is the 19th Long Island music teacher to be recognized by LIMEHOF since the Educator of Note Award was established in 2007. This award recognizes exceptional teachers who demonstrate a commitment to music education, play an active role in the community, and have a significant impact on the lives of music students of all backgrounds and abilities.

Under Mr. Norris’s leadership, our Mixed Chorus and Select Chorale have consistently earned Gold Medals with Distinction at NYSSMA festivals. His work has brought Glen Cove voices to the world stage, including:

  • The White House for President Obama.
  • St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome for Pope Francis.
  • Carnegie Hall & Lincoln Center in New York City.
  • London’s Cadogan Hall and the historic "Musicians’ Church" (Holy Sepulchre).

"Being a teacher and conductor is not what I do, it is a huge part of who I am," says Mr. Norris. "This recognition belongs to the thousands of students who have allowed me to make music with them over the course of my career."

The community is invited to attend the award presentation and enjoy performances by current Glen Cove students and alumni.
