Deasy School Thinks First: Teaching Our Students to Play Smart

DS Assembly Think First Safety

Today, Deasy School hosted ThinkFirst injury prevention assemblies for students in grades Pre-K through 2nd. Presented by Cohen Children’s Medical Center, the "Street Smart" program used animation and interactive lessons to teach students how to protect their brains and spinal cords.

Students explored five key safety areas:

  • Vehicular & Pedestrian: Seat belts and bus safety.

  • Bicycles: The importance of helmets and traffic rules.

  • Playgrounds & Sports: Safe play and proper equipment.

  • Water Safety: Staying safe around pools and lakes.

  • Personal Safety: Conflict resolution and avoiding dangerous objects.

By teaching these safe habits early, ThinkFirst empowers our students to stay active while preventing traumatic injuries.
