Connolly School Raises $1,600 for Breast Cancer Awareness During 13th Annual Walk-a-Thon

On October 17th, Connolly School proudly hosted its 13th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk-a-Thon, where students took significant steps to fight breast cancer. This year's event was organized by the Connolly Student Council, with support from advisors Susan Stanco and Nancy Gorman. The walk expanded beyond school grounds into the surrounding neighborhood streets to increase visibility and awareness, with the Glen Cove Police and Fire Departments providing a safe escort throughout the event, including a fire truck.

The Connolly community rallied together, raising an impressive total of $1,600 for the cause. Fifth grader Mackenzie Alessandro contributed $600 from her bracelet sales. The proceeds will benefit Glen Cove Cares and the American Cancer Society, supporting vital breast cancer research and patient care initiatives. Last year, Connolly School raised over $1,000, and this year's efforts surpassed that amount, emphasizing that every dollar truly makes a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

Thank you to Glen Cove Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck, Deputy Mayor Donna M. McNaughton, our Glen Cove administrators and families for joining the students and faculty in showing their support for this important cause.
