Connolly School Holds Walk-a-Thon for Autism and Neurodiversity Acceptance Month

CS Neurodiversity and Autism Walk 2026

April is Autism and Neurodiversity Acceptance Month, and Connolly School came together to support and celebrate the differences that make each person unique.

Our K-Kids Club, led by Ms. Dora Ricciardi and Ms. Maureen Hellman, organized a walk-a-thon to raise money for the Nassau/Suffolk Autism Society of America. With the support of students, staff, and families, Connolly raised $917.92 for the organization.

Over the past few weeks, students participated in learning and celebratory activities to highlight neurodiversity. Student representatives explored common myths about autism and shared what they learned with their peers. Students also enjoyed a spirit week that celebrated the beautiful spectrum of qualities that make up Connolly’s neurodiverse community.

Autism acceptance is about more than awareness. It means including and supporting people of all abilities. Thank you to everyone who donated, participated, and helped make this event a success.

The Nassau/Suffolk Autism Society of America is a remarkable organization that provides free events and enriching activities for autistic children and their families. It's exactly the kind of impact that inspires us to give.
