Building Connections, One Knot at a Time

Kindness Quilt - FMS

Our Life Skills class recently completed a very special service project. They created a Kindness Quilt for our school staff with one simple message in mind. A little bit of kindness truly goes a long way.

Each quilt square represents a staff member who helps make our school a caring and supportive place. As students carefully copied names from a list and practiced using titles like Mr. and Mrs., they paid close attention to their writing while thinking about the people who make a difference in their lives each day. What may have looked like a simple writing task was really a lesson in gratitude and connection.

Students also worked hard using a hole punch and tying each square together. As they connected the pieces, they were symbolically connecting our school community. With every knot tied, the quilt became stronger, just like our community does when we show kindness to one another.

This project was more than practicing academic and vocational skills. It was about bringing people together, celebrating the adults who support our students, and reminding everyone that small acts of kindness can create something truly beautiful.

We are so proud of our students for leading with their hearts and spreading kindness throughout our school. A special thank you to our Life Skills teacher, Ms. Cain, for helping our students create this project.
