A Special Visit: Celebrating Ramadan and Eid in Pre-K

Celebrating Ramadan and Eid

This morning, Ms. Godoy's Pre-K class at Deasy School welcomed a special visitor, Aurora’s father, Mr. DeLeon, who shared his cultural traditions with the students. Mr. DeLeon spoke to the class about Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, and reflection, and Eid al-Fitr. To help the students understand how families celebrate the end of the fast, Mr. DeLeon led a special classroom project. Each student helped prepare a traditional rice dish wrapped in banana leaves, which is a centerpiece of the meal his family enjoys on Eid al-Fitr. Thank you, Mr. DeLeon, for visiting our school, sharing your heritage, and providing such a meaningful learning experience for our students.
