Emergency School Closing

Emergency Closing and Delayed Openings

When severe weather conditions or an emergency requires the closing of schools, information about school closings or delayed openings will be posted on the district website and will be communicated through ParentSquare at approximately 6:00 AM. Additionally, notifications will be placed on News12. Please check with individual schools regarding each school's method of notification & bus stop adjustments due to weather concerns.

This is the primary method the district uses to communicate its status during a weather event. Your contact information can be viewed and/or updated at any time by logging into your PowerSchool Parent Portal account.

DELAYED OPENING

Parents will receive ParentSquare communications. Bus schedules will be adjusted accordingly depending on the delay. All morning programs, including Before Care, are canceled during delayed openings.

In the event of inclement weather, a delayed opening of school by one (1) or two (2) hours may be implemented by the Superintendent.

GC High School

  • During a one-hour delay, school begins at 8:30 AM.

  • During a two-hour delay, school begins at 9:30 AM.

Finley Middle School, Connolly Elementary, and Landing Elementary

  • During a one-hour delay, school begins at 9:10 AM.

  • During a two-hour delay, school begins at 10:10 AM.

Deasy Elementary and Gribbin Elementary

  • During a one-hour delay, school begins at 9:55 AM.

  • During a two-hour delay, school begins at 10:55 AM.

Deasy Pre-Kindergarten and Landing Pre-Kindergarten

  • During a one-hour delay, school begins at 9:30 AM.

  • During a two-hour delay, school begins at 10:30 AM.
