Dear Deasy Families,

We are excited to embark upon our 32nd annual, award-winning Pick a Reading Partner (P.A.R.P.) program, and we invite you to join us! This year, P.A.R.P. will run from February 6 - 17. Our district-wide P.A.R.P. committee has chosen the theme of “Read S’More at Camp Read A Lot” to guide our celebration. 

Your children will be experiencing two fun-filled weeks of PARP activities at Deasy School.  Some of these activities include the kick off where students will be reading in tents and teepees along with choosing a book out of the camper while enjoying hot chocolate and S’mores bars.  The Middle School students will be reading to our students in addition to the community readers and other teachers in the building. Two authors will be presenting their writing and illustration process. Our culminating activity will be Storybook Bingo, giving our students a chance to shine based on the books they have read.

We are also excited to provide a family engagement school fundraiser that shares our love of reading while teaching children the importance of giving back to our school. We invite all Deasy Elementary School families to help their children track their progress using Read for My School’s digital platform and share your child’s donation page with friends and family to raise money for our school fundraiser. This paperwork will be sent home with your child and can be found here: Read for My School Parent Letter 

The best way to encourage your child to read is to read together for 20 minutes daily.
