Ms. Kenney Honored at NYS Women of Distinction Ceremony

Our very own 8th grade teacher, Ms. Kirsten Kenney, was recently recognized as one of fourteen outstanding women across the 5th Senate District at New York State Senator Steven Rhoads’ 4th Annual Women of Distinction Ceremony. The event took place on Thursday, September 17, at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library.

Senator Rhoads created this annual award to highlight local leaders who make a lasting impact through their professional accomplishments, advocacy, and service.

“Every year, this ceremony reminds me of the incredible people who make our communities so special,” said Senator Rhoads. “These 14 women have each made a lasting impact in their own unique way... Their stories of service, perseverance, leadership, and compassion are exactly the kind of examples we want our young people to see.”

The celebratory evening included local artistic performances, an opening prayer by Hicksville United Methodist Church leaders, volunteer support from the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, and a keynote address by Shashi Malik, President of the Seva Center for Humanity. The night concluded with Senator Rhoads presenting Ms. Kenney and her fellow honorees with official Women of Distinction awards.

Please join us in celebrating Ms. Kenney’s dedication, leadership, and service to our students and community!
