The Office of Curriculum and Instruction provides teachers, students, support staff and administrators access to essential content and resources dedicated to current education trends. Programs are developed to meet the needs of our district and to encourage collaboration and share best practices among all stakeholders. Student achievement is of the utmost importance and the district is dedicated in providing rigorous programs to support student engagement and to continually align the curriculum to the New York State Education Department learning standards.

Homeschooling Information

Parents of, or persons in parental relation to, compulsory school-age children have the legal right to instruct their children at home. If a child is being educated at home, the local school district (LEA) must be assured that the child is receiving instruction in certain required courses/subjects and the mandated hours.

The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction is the Glen Cove City School District's designee for homeschooling. If you reside within the boundaries of the Glen Cove City School District and are interested in homeschooling your child, below are links to the New York State Education Department Regulations 100.10 Home Instruction along with the New York State Education Department's FAQ. Once you have reached your decision, a Letter of Intent must be submitted to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Upon receipt of the Letter of Intent, you will be given instructions regarding the submission of an Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP). If you have any questions, please contact the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
