Angela Raimo, President

(term ends 2026)

Angela Raimo, President, was first elected to the Glen Cove Board of Education in 2021 and is serving her third term. She has lived in Glen Cove since 2013 with her husband and has two children in Glen Cove Public Schools. 

Angela’s commitment to education began when she served as the student school board representative at Montpelier High School in Vermont. Angela got her B.S. in Biology from Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut.  She attended Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, earned her DPM, and then did her residency at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn.

Angela first became involved with the schools through the PTA and served as Co-President for two years.  She has been a member of several district-wide committees including hiring, Safety, and Health and Wellness. As a board member, she earned a New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) Level 2 Award for participation in Leadership Development. She has served on the Audit Committee and is currently on the Policy Committee. 

Anne Markoulis, Vice President

(term ends 2027)

Anne Markoulis, Vice President, moved to Glen Cove in 2002 from Astoria, Queens, and has three children who graduated from the Glen Cove School District (classes of 2017, 2018, and 2023). She was elected to the Board of Education in 2021. 

Anne graduated with a dual B.S. from Queens College in Psychology and Dance and subsequently earned a Master's degree in special education and general education from Long Island University Post. She worked as a teacher assistant for 13 years in the Glen Cove School District and currently works in the Roslyn School District. 

As a parent, she served on PTA executive boards for 18 years. She was also a parent representative on the Curriculum Committee, as well as on hiring committees. As a board member, she served on the Audit and Education committees.  She currently serves on the Policy Committee. Anne’s lifetime involvement in community service includes countless volunteer hours organizing donations for members of the community through outreach during the Covid 19 pandemic and beyond. 

Maureen Jimenez, Trustee

(term ends 2027)

Maureen Jimenez moved to Glen Cove in 2006 and was elected to the Board of Education in 2021. She has four children in the Glen Cove School District (MS and HS).

Maureen earned a B.S. in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Molloy College in 2001 and graduated with honors. She completed a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the College of New Jersey in 2003, also with honors.

Maureen is a New York State Licensed and American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA) certified Speech Language Pathologist, currently specializing in pediatrics. She is a certified teacher of Speech and Language Disabilities with 20 years of experience working with students of all ability levels in the special education setting. She is a seasoned member of the Committee on Special Education (CSE) and Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) meetings.

Maureen is very involved in her professional organization, serving on the Long Island Speech Hearing Association (LISHA) board and executive board since 2003. She is an ASHA ACE Award recipient, a recognition of professionals who have demonstrated a commitment to lifelong learning by earning 70 or more contact hours of continuing education within 36 months. She also received the Outstanding Service award from LISHA in 2013. 

She is active in her children’s schools’ PTA. Before being elected to the Board of Education, she served on the Bond Committee and was a parent member of the Curriculum Committee. As a board member, she earned an NYSSBA Level 1 Award for participation in Leadership Development. She has served on the Policy Committee and currently sits on the Audit Committee.

Meghan Lavine, Trustee

(term ends 2027)

Meghan Lavine is serving her first term as a Board of Education Trustee.  She and her husband Greg (GCHS class of ‘95) live in Glen Cove with their two children, both of whom are enrolled in the Glen Cove School District.

Meghan received a B.A. from The George Washington University, and a Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law. After law school, Meghan was proud to serve as an Assistant District Attorney in Nassau County for over six years. During that time, she practiced in the County Court Trial Bureau and the Economic Crimes Bureau, specifically investigating tax evasion, identity theft, and forged documents and business records. 

In 2016, Meghan joined the chambers of a New York City Civil Court Judge in Queens County as the Judge’s Court Attorney and subsequently served as the jurist’s Principal Law Clerk upon her election as a Justice of the Supreme Court, Queens County. She is currently Counsel to Rimon, PC with a focus on commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

In the spirit of community support that Glen Cove offers, Meghan is happy to be a PTA member, and to serve on the Board of Directors as Treasurer for the Glen Cove Child Daycare Center, Inc., a Head Start Program serving the North Shore community. She has served on the Policy Committee and currently serves on the Audit Committee and Education Committee. 

Lia Leone, Trustee

(term ends 2028)

Born and raised in Glen Cove, Lia is the proud daughter of Italian immigrants who continue to make Glen Cove their home. She is a graduate of Glen Cove High School (1994) and has two children attending Glen Cove School District. She was first elected to the school board in 2019 and is serving her third term.

Lia earned an Associate's Degree at Nassau Community College, a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and a Master's in Reading Grades K - 12 at Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus. She worked for a year as a substitute teacher in several local districts before getting a teaching position in the New York City Department of Education (DoE). After two years with the DoE, she landed her dream job as a Reading Specialist in the Hicksville Public School District, where she has worked since 2001.

Lia was actively involved with the District Bond Committee before deciding to run for the Board of Education. She served as President and Vice President of the Board and on the Education Committee. She currently serves on the Policy Committee and Education Committee.

Brett Miller

(term ends 2028)

Brett Miller is a lifelong resident of Glen Cove, having attended Glen Cove Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating as part of the Class of 1994. In 2007, he and his wife, Monica, purchased their first home in Glen Cove, where they began raising their family. Brett is now a widowed single father of three daughters, all of whom are currently enrolled in Glen Cove Schools.

His career began in 1998 as an electrician with a local firm. He is a graduate of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union #25’s five-year apprenticeship program. Over the course of more than 15 years, he gained experience in various roles, including Inside Wireman, Foreman, and Supervisor. Brett remains a member of IBEW Local Union #25, has also been a member of the Utility Workers Union of America Local #1 and 2, and is currently an active member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #30. In these unions, he has held positions related to the operation and maintenance of both simple and combined cycle power plants in New York City and Long Island.

Brett has been actively involved in the Glen Cove community from a young age, and even more so since 2013, when his children entered the school district. He has volunteered in many capacities, including supporting local food pantries, helping with PTA events, and coaching Little League basketball and softball.

He joins the Board of Education with a strong commitment to drawing on his experience in trade unions and his deep connection to the Glen Cove community to make informed decisions that best serve the district. As a first-year trustee, Brett will serve on the Audit Committee and complete the required training for new board members.

Maria Elena Venuto

(term ends 2026)

Maria Elena Venuto was first elected to the school board in 2015 and is currently serving her third term. She has two children who graduated from Glen Cove High School (2022 and 2025). Maria received a Board Lifetime Achievement Award for participation in Leadership Development from the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) in 2023. She represents the district as an Executive Committee member of the Nassau-Suffolk School Boards Association (N-SSBA). In 2019, she received recognition from the New York State Senate as a Woman of Distinction for her work in education advocacy.

Before running for the school board, Maria served as PTA Co-President at Deasy School and as Cultural Arts Coordinator at Landing School and Robert M. Finley Middle School. She served on the District's Fine Arts and hiring committees. As a board member, she has served on the Audit, Bond, and Wellness committees and currently serves on the Policy and Education committees.  

Maria earned a B.A. in Media Studies and American Studies, as well as an M.A. in Media Studies and Art History, from the University at Buffalo, New York. She serves as the Executive Director of the Standby Program, a nonprofit arts organization, where she is responsible for financial management, budget development, and grant writing. Maria is also an award-winning filmmaker whose work has been screened on THIRTEEN and at film festivals internationally.
