Middle School Counseling
About our Department
Welcome to the Robert M. Finley Middle School Counseling Department!
The Middle School Counseling Department will focus on academic achievement, setting personal goals, student-rights and responsibilities, respect for themselves and others, as well as understanding student developmental stages. These goals will be accomplished through a comprehensive approach using individual and small group counseling, classroom guidance, consulting and coordinating with other related support staff and teachers.
In addition, the School Counselors facilitate groups on self-esteem, future planning, career education, decision making, conflict resolution, peer pressure and other issues of particular concern to students.
The master notebook will be supported in the counseling program.
The counseling staff believes in an open door policy. Please call our counseling secretary to make an appointment at 801-7571.

6th Grade Information
Welcome 6th Grade Students and Families,
We have an exciting year in store for you. The Counseling Department will be meeting with you in a variety of capacities. In the classroom, we will be introducing ourselves in September, and later in the school year, we will be connecting you to some valuable resources. One, in particular, would be a tool called Naviance. Naviance is an online program with many tools to help you discover your future career, strengths, and learning style. Also, we will be inviting you into our offices for your sixth-grade family meeting to discuss all of the wonderful options available at Finley Middle School and check in on your transition to the school. Finally, you are now part of a Google Classroom listed in your account titled by your expected year of high school graduation. This is a prime resource for everything we do in the Counseling Department. Parents can also have access; just reach out to your school counselor to be added to this site. Once again, welcome to Robert Finley Middle School.

Welcome to seventh grade. For those who are new to our school, we are happy to have you with us, and for those who are returning, we look forward to continuing to help you along your academic journey. This year, we will be connecting with you through various meetings. The first will be in September to reintroduce ourselves and explain the year we have planned for you. We will be coming into your classroom to work with the online tool Naviance, which will help give insight into the world of work and the possible career paths suited to your interests. Also, we will be inviting you in the spring for your seventh-grade family meeting. In this meeting, we will be discussing several topics. Finally, you will still have access to your Google Classroom listed in your account titled by your expected year of high school graduation. This is a prime resource for everything we do in the Counseling Department. Parents can also have access; just reach out to your school counselor to be added to this site. Once again, welcome and let's have a great year.
