Transportation Department

Nonpublic Transportation Deadline Extended to April 15, 2020

Please note that due to the closure of schools pursuant to the Executive Order(s) issued by the Governor for the COVID-19 crisis and recognizing that such requests need  to be incorporated into a school district’s budget, the Department directs all public school districts to accept all parental requests for transportation to charter and nonpublic schools submitted on or before April 15, 2020.   The Department deems such Executive Order(s) be a reasonable excuse for a delay under Ed. Law 3635.

Please see updated application below noting the new April 15th deadline.

Resident pupils of the Glen Cove City School District  scheduled to attend or continue to attend or anticipate attending private or parochial schools are entitled to bus transportation in accordance with distance limitations per district transportation policy.

To apply for transportation for the 2020-2021 school year to a private or parochial school a request for transportation form must be received by the district’s transportation office no later than April 1, 2020.  This transportation request form must, by law, be submitted each year.  A separate form must be filed for each child.  If, after applying, you wish to change the school which you had originally requested transportation you must cancel your previous request and submit another request for transportation by the April 1 deadline.

Re-registering a student does not require proof of residency if the home address has not changed.  The request must still be submitted to the Transportation Department by April 1st.
